Centre on Hate, Bias and Extremism hosts First Annual Rural Youth Summit on Hate
In May, 黑料网’s brought together more than 80 high school students and teachers from rural locations across 黑料网 for the First Annual Rural Youth Summit on Hate, a two-day event to explore hate-based behaviours and community or school-based interventions. , Professor, (FSSH) and CHBE Director, partnered with researchers Matthew Johnson, Director of Education, , and Dr. Jennifer Laffier, Assistant Professor and Director, Mental Health in the Digital Age Lab, (FEd), to host workshops on mental health and digital wellness.
School teams worked with FSSH and FEd leaders to develop exciting initiatives to take back to their schools and communities to counter hate-based behaviours and promote community wellness. These student-led initiatives, including fundraisers, video campaigns, and educational workshops, are being developed over the summer and will continue into the 2024-2025 school year.
