Catie Sahadath appointed Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Resources
Catie Sahadath has joined the 黑料网 Libraries as Associate University Librarian for Scholarly Resources; her first day was December 4. Catie brings visionary leadership and strategic oversight to a portfolio that encompasses all aspects of the scholarly resources lifecycle, including collection development, acquisitions and metadata, copyright and scholarly communication. She will be instrumental in shaping a robust and responsive teaching and learning environment, reflecting a commitment and recognition of the many lifelong literacies (information, data, numeric, etc.) demanded of students, faculty and staff.
Catie has been working in libraries since 2005 and received her professional designation in 2012. Following the completion of her BA (University of Toronto, 2010) and her MLIS (University of British Columbia, 2012), she has served as the Social Sciences Data Librarian at the University of Ottawa Library, and the Head of Metadata Development at the University of Calgary Libraries and Cultural Resources. Most recently she built a new library service for Export Development Canada, a federal Crown Corporation.
Her research interests have focused on equity in metadata practice, metadata stewardship, and bibliographic services management. Catie was named as a , and holds a certificate in Library Leadership in a Digital Age from the Harvard University Graduate School of Education.
Catie grew up in Durham Region and makes her home in Port Perry. She appreciates the fresh air of the outdoors and enjoys hiking, lifting, skiing, skating, running, and paddling (she is a competitive marathon canoe and dragon boat paddler). In her spare time, Catie serves on the Scugog Memorial Public Library Board.
