Information Technology Services issues reminder about flexible hybrid equipment
ºÚÁÏÍø has installed audio visual equipment in classrooms across the north Oshawa and downtown Oshawa locations to provide flexible hybrid learning. Information Technology Services is issuing a reminder that laptops must be compatible with the new audio-visual equipment to utilize flexible hybrid.
ºÚÁÏÍø devices (faculty and staff)
To ensure optimal functionality with the flexible hybrid equipment, your ºÚÁÏÍø laptop must have: a USB-C connection and up-to-date drivers and firmware. If you are unsure if your device is compatible or requires an update, please submit a ticket to the IT Service Desk at least two weeks prior to the event to ask for confirmation and assistance.
Personal devices (students/external visitors)
Although we have tested the ºÚÁÏÍø-issued devices with the flexible hybrid equipment, we are unable to test every make and model of the various personal devices that individuals bring to the classroom and/or events. As a result, we cannot guarantee that personal machines will be fully functional with the ºÚÁÏÍø flexible hybrid equipment.
IT Services recommends:
- Staff and faculty: ensure that you are using a compatible ºÚÁÏÍø-assigned device and not your personal machine.
- External visitors/students with a personal device: the staff member who is responsible for the event should book a flexible hybrid loaner laptop from the IT Service Desk (this will be assigned in their name). This is a loaner that is booked for daily use only.
- AV assistance: submit a ticket to the IT Service Desk (two to three weeks prior) asking for AV assistance for the event if required. The technician will work with you to set up the laptop and ensure that the equipment is functional.
Testing
- Always test devices prior to the event.
- Conduct testing as close to the event date as possible to ensure that equipment hasn’t been moved by previous users, cables unplugged, settings changed, etc.
Still need help?
If you would like additional training on flexible hybrid equipment, please submit a ticket to the IT Service Desk and an AV technician will contact you. Please note: due to classroom availability, training may take two weeks to schedule, so please submit your request early.
