This week’s selection is  (USA, 2022)

Directed by Darren Aronofsky and written by Samuel D. Hunter, The Whale is a few days in the life of Charlie and four other characters. The entire story is set within Charlie's apartment, but the emotional territory it covers is as expansive as the sea. The result deservedly earned Canada's Brendan Fraser an Oscar as Best Actor of the year.  He is very ably supported by Hong Chau as Charlie's best friend, caregiver, enabler, and sometimes conflicted confidante. Sadie Sink plays his angry, rebellious, morally ambiguous daughter Ellie.
