Merging the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science and Faculty Energy Systems and Nuclear Science

黑料网 is merging the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Science (FEAS) and the Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science (FESNS).

Over the summer months, the merger will establish FESNS as the Department of Energy and Nuclear Engineering within FEAS.

The recommendation for this reconfiguration was brought forward to Academic Council on January 25. A committee was formed and tasked with completing extensive consultations with internal stakeholders, including FESNS faculty, staff, and students, as well as external partners, regarding this recommendation. As per the university’s defined policies and processes, the committee provided a report supporting the recommendation, and the motion to effect this change was unanimously approved at Academic Council on June 28.

The university has established itself as a national leader in clean energy and environmental sustainability research within industry and the higher education sector. The reconfiguration of FESNS is an opportunity to further enhance the university’s prominence within the energy sector. This change will also strengthen the university’s capacity for interdisciplinary research, teaching and learning, maximize academic and partnership opportunities, expand industry training, and most importantly, ensure students have what they need to succeed. A seamless transition for the campus community and industry partners is expected.

Throughout the merging process, FESNS and FEAS will continue under the leadership of Dr. Hossam Kishawy, Dean, FEAS and Interim Dean, FESNS.
