Recognizing colleagues for their demonstration of excellence during the pandemic
In Fall 2021, President Steven Murphy sent an email inviting our campus community to come together and recognize colleagues who embodied our university’s core values and demonstrated excellence throughout the pandemic.
More than 200 submissions were received and many included thoughtful testimonials detailing the significant achievements of individuals and teams.
Categories included:
Individual staff or faculty, working groups, or assembled work teams who responded to and overcame exceptional challenges during the pandemic, and demonstrated excellence in any of the following categories:
- Changed direction to deliver outcomes that aligned with community needs emerging from the pandemic.
- Elevated team spirit to support physical and/or mental wellness.
- Extended time and effort to parts of the university community beyond the scope of one’s job.
- Helped continuity of business operations.
- Helped students beyond the classroom.
- Implemented new or novel ways to better connect with students online or in hybrid formats.
- Played an advocacy role on behalf of others during the pandemic.
- Took upon new or novel research aimed at better understanding the pandemic, whether scientific or social scientific.
- Any other category that demonstrated consistent commitment, caring and kindness in the face of the pandemic.
Congratulations to all those recognized by their colleagues.
All individuals and teams that were recognized will receive a thank you gift as a token of appreciation from the university. Recognition will also take place at the upcoming Awards of Excellence event.
