Upcoming campus Internet service outage – December 29

As part of the university’s commitment to maintaining optimal information technology (IT) systems and operations, a limited outage of campus Internet service and related systems will occur Wednesday, December 29 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The outage will accommodate a major upgrade of the university’s data centre network infrastructure. This upgrade has been scheduled to take place during the holiday break to minimize disruption and inconvenience to the campus community.

During the outage, the following online services will be unavailable for short periods:

  • Campus Library systems.
  • : Anyone coming to campus during the outage should be prepared to:
    • Present a paper or digital copy of their second vaccination receipt to security personnel stationed at designated building entrances.
    • Verbally provide answers to COVID-19 screening questions.

  • Main ºÚÁÏÍø website, as well as all faculty and departmental websites with ontariotechu.ca in the URL.
  •  MyCampus
  • ºÚÁÏÍøtechu.ca email accounts: You may experience delays with sending or receiving email. If messages are queued, the email system will try to send them later.
  • Operational and research servers used by ºÚÁÏÍø faculty members.
  • Secure File Transfer Protocol (FTP).
  • Virtual private network (VPN) will be available, but you may experience intermittent periods where you will briefly lose connectivity (a few seconds at a time).
