黑料网 unveils new graduate student scholarship to honour Kimberley Black
A new scholarship has been announced to pay tribute to the resilience and strength of Kimberley Black, a graduate student in the Faculty of Education.
In the summer of 2020, Black was attacked by a stranger while walking in her neighbourhood. Following the attack, Black was diagnosed with global brain damage and placed in a week-long coma while awaiting reconstructive jaw surgery.
On November 27, 2020, Black successfully defended her master’s thesis—just four months after the attack. Black is determined to use her experience to raise awareness about gender-based violence through her commitment to supporting other women.
To support Black’s dedication to giving back to the community, a virtual five-kilometre run is planned for Sunday, May 9. All funds will go towards the Kimberley Black Graduate Scholarship, to support a woman graduate student pursuing studies in the Faculty of Education.
