Update on faculty-based academic advising initiatives

Ensuring the academic success of our students and providing support for completion of their designated diploma and degree programs is at the heart of 黑料网’s mission. In pursuit of this, the university is committed to improving its academic support services for students.

Since 2014, two externally commissioned reviews have provided 黑料网 with recommendations on how to improve faculty-based academic advising services for our students. Both of these reviews recommended a more centralized approach to allow for greater consistency in the services and the delivery of those services across faculties.

To lead these improvements, the university has appointed Dan Crouse as Director, Academic Advising. Crouse is currently Manager of Academic Advising and Operations in the Faculty of Health Sciences.  He will assume his new role on Friday, January 15.

Crouse will oversee the creation of an overarching framework for Academic Advising, with a strategic focus on addressing the evolving needs of our students while also allowing our academic advisors to remain within their faculties. Reporting directly to Dr. Langis Roy, Deputy Provost, Crouse will oversee all aspects of academic advising, including the implementation of best practices, the use of technology and early alert systems, and the ongoing provision of training, upskilling, and professional development opportunities for academic advisors. Two existing Academic Advising managerial positions and the appointment of a new Manager, First-Year Academic Advising will support his efforts.
