IT Services offers tips for National Cyber Security Awareness Month
October marks Cyber Security Awareness Month (CSAM), an internationally recognized campaign to inform the public of the importance of cybersecurity. Government and business leaders from across Canada, including the (CSE) and CSE’s , focus on helping Canadians understand cybersecurity issues and the steps they can take to protect themselves online.
This year’s CSAM theme at ºÚÁÏÍø is Do Your Part: #BeCyberSmart, with an emphasis on:
- Encouraging individuals and organizations to own their role in protecting their part of cyberspace.
- Personal accountability and the importance of taking proactive steps to enhance cybersecurity.
Stay tuned over the next few weeks as the university’s Information Technology (IT) Services department shares information on:
- Week 1: Securing devices at home and work
- Week 2: Multi-factor authentication
- Week 3: Backing up your devices and files
- Week 4: Phishing
In addition, IT Services invites you to participate in the by completing activities for a chance to win one of four gift cards. The contest closes Wednesday, October 30; winners will be announced Monday, November 2.
