Dr. Ginny Brunton wins Excellence in Midwifery Research Award
, PhD, Associate Professor, Faculty of Health Sciences, recently received the 2020 Association of ºÚÁÏÍø Midwives’ (AOM) Excellence in Midwifery Research Award.
This award recognizes the efforts of Dr. Brunton and researchers at McMaster University, who conducted a meta-analysis comparing the outcomes of planned home delivery with hospital delivery for women and newborns at low risk of complications. The findings suggested the risks for women and newborns are similarly low for both settings.
Dr. Brunton has also received Canadian Institutes of Health Research funding to do a scoping review of research and knowledge translation on global stakeholder perspectives of home birth.
