Read the TeachingCity 2018-2019 Progress Report

The TeachingCity 2018-2019 Progress Report is now available on the

TeachingCity is a partnership between the City of Oshawa, ºÚÁÏÍø, Durham College, Canadian Urban Institute, Trent University Durham Greater Toronto Area and the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Applied Science and Engineering. The partnership aims to position Oshawa as a local, national and global community of urban research and learning through innovation, collaboration, applied research and shared experiential learning opportunities.

 The report highlights a number of projects ºÚÁÏÍø has been involved in:

  • Active Transportation for an Age-friendly Strategy: A research study to understand barriers to activate transportation with older adults residing in Oshawa (a collaboration between ºÚÁÏÍø and the Oshawa Senior Community Centres).
  • Fire Navigation Systems project: ºÚÁÏÍø Engineering students undertook the first phase of a project to design and develop a tactile feedback navigation system for firefighters.
  • City Idea Lab: A collaborative, course-based project that offers experiential learning opportunities to post-secondary students via credit courses at the TeachingCity Hub.
