Information sessions on proposed Strategic Mandate Agreement 3 (SMA3) – June 25 and 27
On Tuesday, June 25 and Thursday, June 27, the university will host sessions to present an overview for faculty and staff of the proposed third phase of the Strategic Mandate Agreement (SMA3) between ºÚÁÏÍø and the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities (MTCU).
SMAs outline the roles and differentiators for each institution and how they align with the government’s objectives, including goals and metrics to measure progress. As announced in the April 2019 provincial budget, SMA3, which will cover 2020-2025, will tie MTCU funding to university performance outcomes.
The purpose of this session is to walk through the technical points we know at this time and discuss two metrics specifically. While many of the proposed MTCU metrics seem to be set, there are two that the institutions will have some input on:
- Institutional (program) Strength
- Economic Impact
As the definitions have not been set for these metrics, Brad MacIsaac, Assistant Vice-President, Planning, will lead a conversation on possibilities.
